The Swedish Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registration Authority (Lantmäteriet) is the agency responsible for mapping Sweden. Our tasks also include registering and securing ownership of all properties and managing their boundaries. We are now looking for someone with a strong commitment to society.

To enable the construction of houses, bridges, and roads, knowledge of Sweden's geography and properties is essential. By mapping reality and providing current information about the country's topography and infrastructure, you contribute to the foundation for a sustainable and functioning society.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Since January 1, 2026, Lantmäteriet has consolidated all legal support within the agency into a common operational area called Law. The Law operational area consists of four legal units and a unit for registration and archives. The legal units are responsible for providing support and advice on legal matters within the agency and coordinating issues related to legal security, regulatory compliance, and regulatory governance within Lantmäteriet, assisting the Chief Legal Officer in the legal governance of the agency.

This position is located in the Legal Support Geodata unit. Our mission is primarily to support the Geodata operational area to ensure that the operational area's working methods, technical system support, and supporting documents are designed in accordance with applicable law. The unit consists of about 15 employees, the majority of whom are based in Gävle. The primary location for this position is at the headquarters in Gävle, alternatively in Uppsala or Stockholm, but the work requires regular presence in Gävle. As an employee at Lantmäteriet, you should be able to balance work with leisure and maintain a good work-life balance. When the business allows, you will have the opportunity to perform your tasks largely from locations other than the office.

With us, you will have an inspiring role with engaged colleagues from diverse backgrounds and experiences. You will work on issues related to legal governance and provide support to the agency's operational activities. The tasks vary widely, and you will have the opportunity to develop in several different legal areas. You will, among other things, conduct legal investigations, review and draft contracts, prepare responses to consultations, work with regulations and legislative development, participate in development projects and agency collaboration, and prepare cases for decisions according to registration regulations and the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a law degree or a Jur.kand degree and several years of experience in qualified legal work within one of the legal areas of administrative law, public access and secrecy, or other IT law.

Experience in legislative development, digitization within public administration, information security, or legal work from a government agency is advantageous.

We seek someone who is collaborative and can work well with other lawyers as well as colleagues from other professional categories. You can handle complex information from both a strategic and an operational perspective. You are self-driven and maintain progress in your work, which you carry out in a structured manner to deliver requested results on time. Our operations will develop significantly in the coming years. This requires you to be flexible, quickly adapt when priorities change, and contribute constructive solutions. We place great importance on your personal qualities.

This position is classified for security clearance, which means you must be a Swedish citizen and that a security review with background check and security interview will be conducted before employment.

Lantmäteriet is a preparedness authority, and as an employee, you may be placed in a war position at the agency.
